DROWNING POOL – Après la mort de son chanteur Dave Williams survenue en août 2002, le groupe Drowning Pool vient de reprendre ses activités et veut continuer avec un nouveau chanteur. La bassiste Stevie Bento fait la comparaison avec AC/DC qui avait perdu son chanteur Bon Scott en 1980: « Nous avons parlé de l’album Back In Black et ça nous a motivé. AC/DC est un bon exemple. Ils ont surmonté cette tragédie et sont revenus avec un pur album… Nous voulions faire un break. Nous n’avons pas répété beaucoup. On vient de reprendre et nous allons auditionner des gens. Si on trouve quelqu’un alors c’est génial. Si nous ne trouvons pas, nous avons tous des propositions pour jouer dans d’autres groupes. Mais, nous aimerions vraiment rester ensemble pour longtemps. » Le groupe a enregistré récemment un titre baptisé The Man without Fear avec Rob Zombie pour la BOF du film Daredevil sur laquelle on retrouvera également Nickelback, Fuel, Saliva, Moby.

CORNEILLE – Ce début d’année accueille une étoile neuve du paysage soul et R&B francophone. Corneille, auteur compositeur interprète rwandais âgé de 25 ans, installé au Québec, sortira le 10 février 2003 un album au titre chargé de sens: Parce qu’on vient de loin. Présent sur les ondes avec les singles Avec Classe et Ensemble, Corneille s’illustre aussi sur un titre de la BOF de Taxi 3, Laissez nous vivre. Influencé par Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye et Prince, cet artiste avait réussi à envoûter le public des Francofolies 2002, ceci accompagné d’une simple guitare. La révélation de l’année?

RUN DMC – Une compilation de Run DMC intitulée Greatest Hits est prévue pour le mois de mars 2003. Les titres mythiques My Adidas, Peter Piper, Walk This Way, It’s Tricky ou encore It’s Like That y sont bien sûr représentés. Cette sortie fait suite à la séparation du groupe, après l’assassinat de Jam Master Jay aka Jason Mizell. Le MC producteur était abattu le 30 octobre 2002 dans un studio d’enregistrement situé dans le quartier du Queens, à New York. Une frange de la presse américaine fait d’ailleurs un lien entre ce meurtre et le gang des Supreme Team, qui pourrait avoir financé Irv Gotti et son label Murder.Inc, où sont signés Ashanti et Ja Rule. KYLIE MINOGUE – Les nominations pour les prochains Grammy Awards viennent d’être rendues publiques et Kylie Minogue a dû avoir une bonne surprise en les découvrant. En effet, ayant déjà connu un succès énorme en 2002, l’Australienne commence bien l’année 2003 avec une nomination dans la catégorie « Best Dance Recording », avec son single Love at First Sight. Elle se retrouve en compétition avec Daniel Bedingfield, Dirty Vegas, No Doubt et Groove Armada. C’est la 1ère fois de sa carrière que Kylie Minogue est nominée aux Grammy. EMINEM – Selon le journal américain, New York Post, Eminem a dans l’idée de lancer une ligne de vêtements comme ont déjà pu le faire P. Diddy ou le Wu Tang Clan. Il a fait équipe avec Nesi Apparel pour créer une ligne sportswear baptisé Shady qui pourrait arriver sur les étagères des magasins dès l’automne 2003. Il s’agirait « du pur reflet de sa personnalité et de ce qu’il porterait ». En somme, tout va bien pour le rappeur actuellement. Il est d’ailleurs nominé 5 fois aux prochains Grammy Awards qui se tiendront à New York le 23 février.
